Self-Concept and stress among adolescents with orthopaedic disabilities: An empirical study
Authors

Abstract
This empirical study aimed to investigate the relationship
between self-concept and stress among orthopedically differently abled
adolescents. A sample of 30 participants, aged between 13 and 18, was
conveniently selected from schools, rehabilitation centers, and support groups.
The participants completed structured questionnaires assessing self-concept and
stress levels. The data were analyzed using correlation analysis. The results
revealed a significant negative correlation between self-concept and stress (r
= -.481, p = 0.007), indicating that higher levels of self-concept were
associated with lower levels of stress. These findings emphasize the importance
of addressing self-concept in interventions and support systems to promote the
psychological well-being of orthopedically differently abled adolescents.
Further research with larger samples and longitudinal designs is recommended to
validate and expand upon these results. Understanding the relationship between
self-concept and stress can inform the development of targeted interventions
aimed at enhancing self-concept and reducing stress in this specific
population.
