Abstract
The current government under the headship of Narendra Modi deployed ‘Fresh Start Effect’ under its SBM (Swachh Bharat Mission) and organised ‘Swachhatha Divas’ and ‘Swachhatha Pakhwadas.’ Meanwhile, the success of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s SBM and other government schemes have boosted India’s performance in SDI (Sustainable Development Index) 2019. The paper attempts to understand the idea of swatch Bharat with a particular reference of Chhattisgarh. The main aim of the present research paper is to explore water and sanitation hygiene-related attitudes and practices among individuals living in rural area settings of Kondagaon district in particular. The paper deals with various aspects of traditional knowledge and social practices towards water, sanitation, and hygiene. The observation and interview method has been used to get an in-depth understanding as well as to assess the knowledge and practice on water, sanitation, and hygiene among the rural people of Kondagaon district
